Whether it’s for a party or just to add a little fun to your weeknight dinner table, crescent roll hotdogs are a classic staple. However, this time of year gives you an excuse to add some extra ghoulish fun. These spook-tacular crescent mummy dogs will not only entertain, but also fill up the whole gang! Plus, they’re easy and fun to make!
The best recipes are those in which the finished products look fancy, but are a breeze to pull off in the kitchen. All you need for these harrowing hotdogs are:
1 can of refrigerated crescent rolls
2 ½ slices of American cheese, quartered
10 large hotdogs
Dipping sauce of your choice (mustard, ketchup, etc.)
These creepy crescents can be achieved in just 5 simple steps:
- Preheat oven to 375
- Pop open the can of dough, roll out the dough and divide along the perforations. You will want to end up with 4 rectangles out of this dough, so you’ll need to seal the perforations between two triangles.
- With a knife or kitchen shears, cut each rectangle lengthwise into 10 pieces, making a total of 40 pieces of dreadful dough. Also slice the chilling cheese lengthwise into quarters. Are you getting into the spooky spirit yet?
- Place a quarter of the cheese on a hotdog and take 4 pieces of dough and wrap them around the hotdog to look like bandages, stretching the dough slightly to completely cover the hotdog. Leave about a half inch of hotdog exposed on each end and separate the dough bandages so that hotdogs peeks through for a “face”. Place the wickedly wrapped hotdogs, cheese side down, on an ungreased cookie sheet. Spray the dough lightly with cooking spray.
- Bake 13 to 17 mummifying minutes or until the dough is lightly golden brown and the hotdogs are hot. Feel free to add eyes and a mouth with mustard when the hotdogs cool a bit!
